National Nanny Training Day
On April 28, 2012, 50 local nannies attended the Washington, DC edition of National Nanny Training Day, compliments of White House Nannies. Created by Nanny Biz Reviews, the annual event focuses on the vital connection between education and quality childcare, attracting more than 1,000 nannies in 30 cities nationwide. Locally, the event was organized by the Association for DC Area Nannies and featured workshops on hot topics like positive discipline, bullying, sibling rivalry and nutrition. White House Nannies was thrilled to sponsor such an important event!
On October 22, 2011, we hosted Margaret Auger, a certified Holistic Health Coach, to walk us through The Integrative Nutrition® food pyramid which includes a balance of high quality vegetables, fruits, grains, proteins, healthy fats and water. Our wonderful White House Nanny and 20-year childcare expert Rosangela Baptista provided guidance on the art of introducing healthy food to picky eaters. Both shared great recipes and everyone enjoyed the delicious lunch!
Positive Discipline/Challenging Behaviors
On June 18, 2011, we hosted Patti Cancellier, certified Parent Educator and Education Coordinator for the Parent Encouragement Program, a local nonprofit. With 20 years experience in parent instruction, Patti’s insight on positive discipline, challenging behaviors (spitting, hitting, biting, fighting) and power struggles was invaluable.
