Bonus Time

White House Nannies Jobs

Dec 10th, 2010

We get lots of calls every year with questions about holiday bonuses. There is no definitive one-gift-fits-all, but there are some guidelines. Are you happy with your caregiver? Then this is a good time to show her.  Some people do give a week’s salary for every year worked. Some combine money with a gift  and/or gifts from the children. If the economy has made you tighten your purse strings,   still try to acknowledge your caregiver in some meaningful way.  I think a combination of food gifts (a Honey Baked ham or basket of assorted holiday items) along with cash makes sense. Most nannies live pay check to pay check. While hand -made gifts from our children are lovely, some amount of cash is probably the preferred gift. This extra cash allows your nanny to buy for her family. Give what you can. I know it will be appreciated.

As I am writing this post I am seeing the first snow of the season out my window. Happy Holidiays to one and all.
